Leathercraft Pro tips

When making a new pattern, there are some tips and tricks your should always apply so you can get the best out of your art. Follow me!

Read the pattern description and details before you start.

The patterns from one maker don't necessarily look like the patterns from another maker. Be sure to double-check what's included and what's not.

For instance :

  • is there a video or tutorial?
  • are there instructions?
  • what file formats are included?
  • is it ok to use it commercially?

If all of that is important to you, congratulations, it's included in the patterns you'll find here. But read the details, it can happens a pattern don't come with a video 😊

Print it at the right size

Always be careful at the print result of the pattern. Usually, set your printer at "true to size" of "100%" or "content size".

For a tutorial, I recorded this video for printing large patterns like the MacBook Pro Sleeve Pattern. Have a look if you are lost.

Don't forget to sharpen your blades

Whatever blade you are using for your project, you should always start a project with a well sharpened blade.

I recommend you spend a bit of time learning how to sharpen one, because you don't need a lot of material and effort, and it'll help you with all your projects.

Here is a playlist on different techniques.

Any other advice for leathercraft beginners?

Well, I have a lot of them, but I'm not sure it's related to the patterns I share on this website. If you have any question, reach me on Instagram or contact me.
